Das Modell ODW-710-F1 unterstützt eine Punkt-zu-Punkt-Übertragung des PROFIBUS-DP-Protokolls über eine Glasfaserverbindung. Dank der speziellen Bauweise können verschiedene von Westermo geprüfte SFP-Transceiver (Small Form Pluggable) eingesetzt werden. Diese ermöglichen Lösungen mit z.B. Einzelfasern oder Entfernungen von bis zu 120 km.
